Is it worth getting Solar Panels?

For the best performance, Solar Panels will need to face between southeast and southwest. East or west installations can also provide good performance and can be used for a building with a roof or wall that faces within 90 degrees of the south. Take a look at our Solar Panels page here for a detailed explanation of Solar Panels.

Should I get a Battery Storage System?

Solar Battery Storage allows you to store electricity generated from the sun via your solar panels to use in the evening or at a later date. Adding a solar battery system is a great way to use renewable energy to increase your independence from the grid.

    Scaffolding and install mounts fitted

Once the scaffolding has been put up, giving the installers safe access to your roof,  the install mounts –  which the Solar Panels will be attached – are fitted and attached to the rafters.

Solar Panels, Inverter & Battery installed

When the Solar Panels have been secured to the frame and wired in, the inverter is installed and connected to the battery (if chosen) and the grid input. The inverter is what transforms energy from the Solar Panels into electricity your home can use.

Connect the system to the grid

Once your Solar Panels Installation is complete, the whole system is connected to the consumer unit which will sit in your fuse box.  We’ll then ensure all the cabling is neatly fitted with a black or white conduit to suit your home.

    Accredited Solar Panel Installers

When your installation is complete our trusted solar panel installer can help you choose the perfect energy supplier like Octopus Energy, guide you through instructions on how to monitor your solar energy consumption throughout your home, and get the best out of your system.

How long does a Solar Panels Installation take?

Most installations are completed within a day but some larger jobs will take a little longer.  We can let you know once we know the size of the system you need.

We’ll put your scaffolding up a few days before your solar installation and take it down a few days after and we’ll always make sure we leave your property clean and tidy.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is my home suitable for Solar Panels Installation?

Whether your roof faces south, east, or west your home is perfect to have solar photovoltaic panels installed. North facing roofs will not receive as much sunlight and therefore won’t be as efficient. The pitch of your roof should be between 10 – 60 degrees,

Do I need to get planning permission to get Solar Panels Installed?

Having solar panels installed in your home is classed as a “permitted development”. You only require planning permission if you live in a listed building or area of outstanding natural beauty.

Can I put up my own scaffolding?

In most circumstances we will insist on putting up our own scaffold, to ensure the safety of you and our solar panel installers, however there are exceptions when scaffold is already in place for renovation works or a new build home is being built, but that scaffold would have to meet with our safety standards.

How long does it take from consultation to install?

Our lead time from consultation to solar panel installation is around 4-6 weeks, unless you need an application to your local network – then it can take a little bit longer.
